How's this for an idea...
A special end of year tourney (held in late October, or early November), with £3000 prize pool and limited to just 10 players. The event will be a live event and take place in Bristol at Poker.co.uk headquarters. The prize pool will be split £1500, £900, £600.
We can run weekly value-added tourneys on poker.co.uk. E.g. $20 rebuy with $200 value-added to the pool. Each ticket will be worth £300. Any extra cash in the pot for the qualifiers will be given to second place and lower.
What do people think? Is this a goer?
Every qualifier will also recieve a bottle of Poker.co.uk champagne (worth £30) and highly desirable Poker.co.uk polo shirt.
Mango: Anyone watching Graeme Norton? They've got that actress who was in that accident recently! Reece...
s4ooter: Witherspoon?
Mango: No, with a car.

Yep, do it.
Might be better off with freezeout satellites though, a lot of people seem to have a serious aversion to rebuys. I'd probably play either way though.
I think its a great idea, ill be in assuming i can make it.
Any time you aggressively play seven deuce off suit, the universe will bend the laws of short term probability in order to re-balance the long term probability abuses by those trashy players who only play premium hands
Great idea
What you could do is say the final table you would start with X amount of chips.
However the more games you played before hand you would get an extra 200 chips. At least this way you would keep the same players playing in the qualifers even if they had qualified just to have a nice chip lead
Idea kindly stolen from an event i played in a few weeks back

Maybe I can run rebuys every other week. $20+$2 with $200 added. Then Freezeouts every other week $30+$3 with $200 added.
The problem I can see is getting $600ish in the prize pool each time to pay for the ticket.
If we have a $20 rebuy that'll mean we'd need just 10 players = $200, with each player rebuying just once = $400 + $200 added value = $600 total.
For a $30 Freezeout, we'd need 13 players = $390 + $200 = $590.
Sounds like both might work.
I'll set them up starting 1st week in August / last week in July. How about Thursday nights?
After the event we could all go out for a meal and some drinks, then on to a club.

Think it's an excellent idea, looking forward to it, great and groovy and cool....
BUT (and you knew that was coming!), how about some live satellites as well, rather than having them all online? 10 player £30 freezeout perhaps... Or for the highrollers a £60 one for two seats even...
I'm assuming of course that you could hold them at HQ, as this would probably be easier than getting other individuals to host independently, especially if the event itself is 10 players only.
Just a thought.
Sounds like a great idea, probably a bit rich for me, but obviously I'll buy in if I'm feeling:
Drunk
Rich
Confident
Very Drunk
Any combination of the above. (except drunk+very drunk)

sounds wicked to me, id play the rebuys and the freezeouts, i know people moan about rebuys but i think thats when they play rebuys against complete muppets, i dont think there will be any probelm with the quality of players that will be taking part in these.
...are you mad?! Surely this is the best time for you to play poker...?!Originally Posted by drunkenmonk
