Why bet 1500 to win 75 on a bluff? It’s sounds ludicrously obvious yet I see it in the first 20 minutes of every cheap tournament I play.

It’s one thing to bet 1500 into a tiny pot if you hope to be called. Betting good hands aggressively early on may not be the most profitable way to play them but it can usually be justified.

But bluff raising all in even in late position can’t be justified. Look at the potential outcomes:
  • Everyone folds and you make 75 profit. To be viable the chance of anyone calling needs to be smaller than 1 in 20.
  • Someone calls. If they call a bet that large they’re going to have a bluff beaten.

Look right, look left, look at the size of the pot.
