Cut out rail i made mine 5"
    [IMG][/IMG]
    Screwed rail and lip together
    [IMG][/IMG]
Sanded down all surfaces and varnished, the placed completed rail on play surface, because the rail lip is cut from the surface they should fit like a glove, insert nuts covered by tape.
    [IMG][/IMG]
Now the fun part begins! Foaming and covering the rail! I forgot my phone the day i covered with foam and started to vinyl so this is the only pic ive got
    [IMG][/IMG]
There is defo a knack in covering the rail, pulling tightly in equal measures and going slowly are a must! Defo get help it is possible to do by yourself but very difficult also an electric stapler makes it so much easier!
    [IMG][/IMG]
Rail all covered and test fitted over unfinished play surface
    [IMG][/IMG]
Once again forgot my phone (the camera i used to take pics) for the final installment of foaming the play surface and covering in suited speed cloth, although this part is really fairly easy, base was just sprayed black and legs screwed onto base, final pic of table in play!
    [IMG][/IMG]
For some reason the cloth looks almost green in the pic but its actually "Bronze suited speed cloth" Possibly the best cloth you could use for a poker table, any questions or comments ill try my best to help

    Looks good, nice work!

What did you do about the table legs? Or does it sit on top of a normal table/surface?

Cheers Citrus, the table needed to be somewhat portable so pedestal legs (which would have been my 1st choice) were out of the question, so after speaking to a few experienced builders one of them recommended screw off legs from Ikea, theyre cheap and do the job well, Theyre called Ikea Vika curry legs and for the price theyre fantastic, just screwed them onto the base of the table.

Well bearing in mind i live in rip off Britain it probably cost me nearly double the amount to what most folk across the pond in America would pay, but heres a list of my costs and supplies

Wood - 3 sheets of 18mm mahogany plywood (My mates a joiner he got me the wood on his account so saved me some cash) £80

Foam for rail- 1"x 8'x4' Local upholsters- £30

Foam for play surface/Suited speed cloth- Got these from another forum member, he builds tables and had extra supplies, the foam and cloth is from a company in America called Your Auto Trim, look them up they do quality poker table build supplies but shipping to Scotland is a little pricey thats why i tried my best to get everything here, Neoprene foam and Bronze suited speed cloth plus a few connector bolts and inerts he threw in, Total £90

Vinyl for rail- Black "faux leather" vinyl from ebay, £25 inc del.

    Electric knife- Argos £10

    Electric stapler Argos £20

Black spray paint-Local hardware store- £5

Spray adhesive- 3m 77 super spray, online order £15 inc del.

    Ikea Vika Curry legs- £10

    Varnish- £20

Loads of other little extras like tape measure, stanley knife, staples, screws etc All in all for everything it was just a little over £300

Knowing what i know now after building that table i could prob build one for around the £200 but if i was to give any advice it would be dont buy cheap wood or play surface cloth, ive heard a few horror stories of tables warping over time if made by MDF or thin plywood, If your thinking of building a table tho i say go for it! I had a great time building mine and i managed to sell it for a small profit giving me an excuse to build table #2, A raised rail full play surface table with slide out cupholders!
Thanks for all the comments folks greatly appreciated.

Ooops. I tried to (unsuccessfully) correct the [ IMG ] tags in your first post, and think I may have muffed up the url of your third image. Either that or Imageshack is temporarily down.

If it's the former, please can you post the image here again, and I'll put it back into your first post (if you're unable to edit it yourself).

Edit: Seems to be working again now. Imageshack must have been having temporary problems.
Mango: Anyone watching Graeme Norton? They've got that actress who was in that accident recently! Reece...
    s4ooter: Witherspoon?
    Mango: No, with a car.
