Nasty stuff Padster, but:
22 IS ahead of AKos Pre-flop....
How do others play little pairs pre, agg or call and hope for a set? Vicki Coren said the other day that she usually like to RR with them.
How about AKos? I am so fed up with getting 'em in and losing I play more passive pre and see a flop.
"I've been doing it blindfolded whilst balancing an epileptic porcupine on my cock"
This one hurt.....(as it would have given me a good lead going into / approaching final table)

Today, I have mostly been : drinking Kaluha
I had the exact same situation as padster last night (I was AKo vs 22), and I had a little argument with the moron in the chatbox about this very thing.
Essentially, whether it is good play or not is beyond the coin-flip nature of these two hands going heads-up. In my situation, I took the lead UTG by betting big (something like 5xBB) to show strength from early position. Homeboy I was up against went all in from the button with 22's. His 2's held up and busted me out (we were comparable stacks).
Now, doesn't this come down to the gap concept and having to have a stronger hand to call a raise than lead with one? In his situation, he risked his tournament life in a situation where someone under the gun had already shown a lot of strength. Ok, so I had KAo but I could have been playing a high pair just the same way. In fact, I could be playing ANY pair the same way and have him completely mullered pre-flop. Shoving with 22 in his position was just bad play, especially as I had been pretty tight up to that point and certainly wouldn't be risking a bluff from that position. Even I had been holding 33's I would have been a 75% favorite with my offsuited anna's.
So whilst the odds calculators classify it as a coin-flip, playing that low-pair in such a way is asking for massive trouble and is completely non-optimal.
In Padsters hand, his opponent was even MORE moronic, as at the point he shoved all-in, there had been two hands showing strength ahead of him.
In terms of playing low pairs, for me its a case of trying to see a flop cheaply from early position and hitting a set or folding. In later position I would re-raise if there hadn't been any raises beforehand but once again, if you see the flop and miss then muck em, unless you just want to gamble.
AKo's are harder...If the position is right and I am getting a little short stacked then I tend to shove, but if I have room for actually playing poker, I tend to treat it for what it is - an Ace high hand, and if I am drawing dead beyond the flop then probably abort. One of the biggest mistakes I see other people make is falling in love with them, calling down to the river and then being beaten by some mundane hand.
I'm hardly Tom Dwan though, so my way of playing them is probably wrong, but hey
I think the issue that got Padster pissed off is the guy shoved his 22 after a raise and a reraise when he had zero fold equity.
As for rfph's min-raise with AA - dont do it! Minraising sucks and just screws you over time after time.

http://www.getonmyhorse.com/
A little harsh - my min raise with AA was heads up, where any sign of weakness normally results in a re-raise. At this stage his call left him with 8BBs and therefore hard for him to fold post flop - a situation where unless he hits 2pair or better you take the game. +ev imo.
I agree min raiseing AA in a table with >3 or 4 players is p*ss poor play, but not in this situation.
Today, I have mostly been : drinking Kaluha
fuck the dumbass moron call, fuck the crappy river, fuck my luck and fuck poker!

had the worst evening ever playing omaha.
its almost amusing that my stats are "pots won at showdown 1/13", and i was at least a slight favourite in 10 of them. Just a succesion of the board pairing when i have nut flush or the board not pairing when i have top set.
The best one was where some spaz who was tilting 4 bets me with 259Q and we get all in preflop and he destroys my AAJQ.
Right. What have you got?
"Three pairs."
What d'you mean three pairs? You're only allowed five cards!
"Oh. Shit! Er, two pairs. Well, two and a half pairs."
=========================================
"Right, let's get on with the game."
What have you got?
"Five kings."
