Thats the age old question.

The amount of time and effort spent on Steps is worthless unless you take down a final step. When you could have spent that time grinding SnGs and tickets. Furthermore more rake is paid in Steps than normal SnGs BUT its all about the fun factor for me. I prefer to grind the steps and have a shot at a nice tourney package.

Seems like you have a 5 or cant beat the board. Only 5s that win are 59, 5q, 5k, 5a. And you might only bet A5. So you either have A5 or nothing.

Pretty sure ur opponent is not thinking that deep though lol

I think its a genuine mistake and he thought his 88 made 2 pair. Nothing else makes sense.

Your bet isnt great there as your only getting called by a better hand and its not a substantial enough pot worth bluffing at.

Bad reasoning imo (aside from the last comment).

The only way he can call here is if:

i) he misread the board
ii) he doesn't understand the rules of poker
iii) it's a misclick
iv) he is calling for info to use later on.

From playing against him, I genuinely think the player thought that he had 3 pairs (he was very bad). Or if I'm being generous, he misread the board.
