I work on projects funded by the EC, and have not had any responses from our project officer in brussels over the last week or so - partly, i assume because lots of people are taking time off.

We will be improving the management of room referrals on-site in future, in order to ensure that this does not happen again.
With regards to the sub-standard hotel rooms, please note we are aware of this and are discussing this matter with the hotel. We will also forward the specific complaints with regards to your room on to them.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a refund for the room, as PokerStars was charged by the hotel the set cost of 2200 € per player per room.
In way of an apology we can offer you a free room upgrade (if available) at the next EPT that you qualify for. Please remind us about this at the next EPT event.
We apologise again for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.

So, as I predicted they've passed the buck. The hotel say they can't speak to me as Pokerstars paid for the room. And Pokerstars say they can't refund me the difference between the €2,200 and the actual value of the room because that's what the hotel charged them. Catch 22.

Yep, and judging by their previous form, I wouldn't be surprised if they've marked me down to be allocated the shittest room possible if I ever qualify in future, in anticipation of me asking for the "free" upgrade (that I'd have paid for twice by then!).
For a company that prides itself on their customer service, I think this has been ridiculously shoddy.
fwiw, I emailed back saying their response was completely unacceptable, and I want the difference between the prize I won and the true cost if everything was booked seperately.
