Going to sound like a stupid question but has anyone here ever played there before?
Just wondering what it is like etc. Me and my mate are planning to go to Vegas in november this year and niether of us have played live before (aside from home games but they dont count). He said we need to get some practice in so suggested we try the £20 NLHE freezeout at the empire. They apparently have one every 14:30 Mon-Fri. I have a couple of days off next week for my bday so was thinking of giving it a whirl

I suppose it is only £20 but I dont really want to make a twat of myself if they have some in house rules I know nothing about if that makes sense?

Not played there but a couple of tips for casino play that noobs often fall foul of:

DONT string bet when you raise (put chips in few at a time) - best to say "raise" and announce the amount before you put chips in. It is ok to check what you're allowed to raise if you want to make a minimum raise (often a house rule whether it is the differential between a previous bet and raise or whether it has to be minimum of last bet)

Keep your big chips in the front (not behind chips with lower denomination) - its so that everyone can see how much you have without having to ask.

Even if soft drinks are free, tip the waiter the first couple of times and you'll find they take care of you.

Being optimistic, if you win tip the dealer (I'd do about 10-15%)

Other than that I wouldn't worry about looking a twat - it will give you an edge if other players think you don't know what you're doing.

I have played there a few times. It's a very nice casino.

The main tip I'd give is to be careful to avoid string-betting. People are extremely anal about it!

My friend has played a few of their £20 rebuys on sunday and he said there not poker players their just gambkers who happen to be there at the time the tournaments starting. No doubt this probly attracts the sharks from places like the vic. Iv wanted to play there myself for a while but havent got around to it.

Dont talk about the hand if your not in it or its multiway, easy mistake to make, you hear it all the time and its the easiest way to piss people off.

Also learn how to look at your cards. If you pick them up and hold them in front of your nose then it tells the good people at the table that you are a n00b. You should pull them towards you and gently bend the corners up to see what they are. Also remember the suits so you don't have to give it away when you have a flush draw by having another look. Finally, look at your cards just before the action is on you so you can check the action from a neutral mindset before you know what you will do.

Ok next question whats the craic with the self dealing business only tourneies with a £100+ buy in will be provided dealers. Do they have shuffle machines on the tables or have i got to sit there like a tard and fumble the cards everywhere

Ty I will be going next Friday 19th March if you fancy it if not we can always arange another day. They do a £20 freezeout Mon-Fri at 14:30 and then a £20 rebuy at 18:30 (Same days). They also seem to hold the £20 rebuy at 14:30 on Sat&Sun. Looks like their max players is 81

I've failed pretty often recently by having to do this; I must be going senile. The annoying thing is, 99.9% of the time my guess at what they are turns out to be correct when I do take a second look. I reckon I should just give up the 0.1% of equity and stop looking like a c0ck.

My live tip (at those stakes) would be that the majority of the time people do actually play pretty much how you would expect them to based on their appearance.

Tbh - I dont think Ill be able to manage next week - since Ive taken today off sick. (For cunning reasoning I might point out). However I have the week after Notts off work - so if that goes well and im not stone broke could go some time then? I always forget that im not the only person in the London Area.
