    Default The SnG grind begins

So been giving the $2+$0.25 FTP sngs a go after the last thread, only a very small sample but its going pretty well, if i only i could stop donking off the profits on the cash tables. Will try and update this thread to keep me motivated.

I cant post screen shots mainly because im too lazy to work it out properly but thees are my sharkscope stats:

Username Games Played Av. Profit Av. Stake Av. ROI Total Profit Form Ability /100 Network Filter
    Q10neverlosses 30 $1 $2 44% $32 Hot 70 FullTilt SNG

I know i spelt loses wrong, its what you get for using a wireless keyboard and not checking things. I think it works in my favour, the other players think im a bit "special" so dont think i know how to play.

The main thing iv learnt so far is varience is a bitch, iv been getting it all in ahead 90% of the time and holding so im just waiting for downwing.

    This made me smile though

Also I want to get some sort of tracking software, will this help or is it just a waste of money when you hardly ever play the same players again? If any are worth getting what do you suggest? I was thinking of getting the free trial of I think PT3.

Nobody at $2 games will care how you play.

You should also move up because at the $2 games the rake is 12.5% which is quite laughable.

I dont have the BR to move up atm, only have about 25BI after being a donk on cash. I would only hve about 10BI at the $5 level so i predict i would go broke within the week.

Wow was just about to put a topic on the same thing....and then noticed this one! Have been grinding the $2 SnG on Full Tilt aswell, was wondering how many buyings is enough to move up to $5....Got 40 buy ins at $2 level, so is it time to move up?!

What BR did you start with? And how many games has it taken you to get to were you are atm? I want 25BI at the $5 level and if i fall down to 10BI I will move back down to $2, thats if i get there first anyway.

Iv noticed everyone seems to be playing TAG, iv been trying to play the opposite, I find myself getting chipped up quite early and then bully the medium stacks in the midstage to get a nice stack for when everyones short and shoving shit at the end so i can pick some nice spots. Whats been your stratergy?

Started with $20, started pretty slowly but got on a bit of a run then got up to $70 now..think im gonna grind it up to $100 and then move up...Yeah mostly been playing TAG, find most of them are calling stations so increase my bet sizes when iv got a hand.Try not to call open-shoves aswell unless iv got a premium hand, as there so loose...was playing a SnG first 15 hands one guy just went all in.Picked up K's and doubled my stack up, knicked a few pots and then got aggressive once got to final table.Think $2 grind will do me for now, just played a few $5 and got donked off by people calling All ins with A2 and stuff.

I dont think 18 buy ins is enough to cope with down swings in these, the varience and bad beats are huge. The open shoving makes for some tilting moments, earlier it was 7 handed, i had doubled up and was on about 3400, idiot open shoves for the third time in a row time i call with jacks, he has KQ and rivers a Q, to make it worse he proceeded to call me a donk whilst open shoving 80% of hands, he then bubbled me when four handed i shove my button with JQ he insta calls in the big blind with KQ flop had a K and a Q so i was dead. The shove fold stratergy at the end gets sooo frustrating when people call wit A2 like you said.

Yeah definetley...maybe reassess and go up to 25 buy ins then...yeah i know what you mean earlier some guy was bemoaning his luck, winging about everything then on a K high board i have KQ i put majority of my stack in he calls on a double gutshot and hits a Q...then calls me the donk! Pure fustration sometimes...how much was your original bankroll?! Have been up and down on my account so trying to learn some good banroll management to make sure it doesnt happen again and can start to see a steady profit...What your username?! Il look out for yo...mines glynnoo.

All my username etc is in the original post. 25BI is $137.50 including rake i think, I'll probly get impatient and move up before then, im currently on around $66.

I havent actually deposited anything, I got $50 free from one of them bankroll sites, its something I do alot which is more than likely stupid as i should just not be cheap, deposit and get rakeback instead. Anyway i started off playing a bit of everything just to see what the site was like, I then decided that i could exploit rush poker and double my bankroll in an hour, seeing as i suck at cash at the best of times this wasnt the best idea, I went down to $18 before deciding to just see what $1/2 was like seeing as it was free money anyway, but table minimum was $20 so I settled for .50/1 stealing some small pots before getting it all in with pocket 5's against AK on an all low flop, i took my $46 and ran. Then i started playing a few sng's and doing well before 'seeing what 1/2 was like' and losing $20 in one hand, FYI I saw what it was like and it was shit so I decided i might as well get serious and give myself a goal to get motivated to see if I'm actually any good. I know beating micro stakes doesn't make you good at poker but you know what i mean.

Yeah playing $2 is so frustrating, Im not the best multi-tabler either so I only play 1 at a time sometimes 2.So as it says it is a bit of a grind currently my bankroll is $70 just playing a $6 SnG see how it goes, gonna go back to $2 after if i dont win.Think a $100 will do me to move up....Do you multi table?! How is rush poker?! Not played it yet, try to stay away from cash games normally end up donking most of my bankroll of by trying to make hero calls!
