Here's an interesting one for you, one that I didn't take enough time to think through. It's a 5-handed game, blinds are at $25 and $50, all limp to me in the SB so I make it $250 to go with Jh,10h (yes, I know, shaddap) and am flat-called by the BB, limpers fold. Oh well, could be worse. Flop comes Qc-9c-5h. Not such a bad flop for such a crappy hand, thinks I.
I make a $500 come-bet on the open-ended straight (but obviously hoping to represent the Queen) and my opponent flat-calls in a heartbeat. I'm assuming flush draw, although maybe he has middling pair and doesn't believe me, but basically I'm in the dark. If he does read me for a Queen and I hit my straight the pot is going to be a nice size, and if the flush doesn't come on the Turn I'm planning on making it expensive.
The Turn comes a 2, no help to the flush. Again I bet, this time making it $1000, and again the immediate flat-call from my opponent, no re-raise, and I'm thinking "am I being slow-played with trips here or is he STILL on a draw?". Hmmm.
The river misses me, a non-club 7. This time I check and my opponent (after a deliberate pause) bets out $1,500. I take a sideways look at the board - he sure as shit isn't going to call two big bets with 6-8 on a gutshot draw so in my mind I'm thinking he's probably stayed in with a pocket pair, I'm guessing 5s (he's shown pocket 5s already tonight) and has called two streets hoping I'd bet the River with what I'm assuming he thinks is just my Queen. His $1500 bet's almost crying out for a call in my mind. Still there's always the possibility he was calling with the Nut or Near-Nut Flush draw, in which case he still has me beat! What's your play here and what might you put my opponent on and why?
This hand really made me think afterwards....all my vchips to the correct answer![]()

He's on 10,J as well and called your bets for an open ended straight draw. Then you showed weakness on the river and he made you fold by betting. Calling bets can be a great way to keep someone guessing when they don't have much. People tend to think and give you credit for the best possible hands because of it. Hence they fold when you bet out after calling two or three big bets, when you then bet or raise them. When you sence weakness calling first and then betting is a great strategy.
Well, was I right?![]()
He he
I have a better question instead.
Whats a better start?
AK off suite or JT suited???
I like AK meself...
AA

If you dont think to good - dont think too much.
There are more outs in J,10 suited but of course A,K unsuited gives an advantage of high cards.
Then again, J,10 suited is a very overrated hand. So give me A,K anytime you are thinking of giving me J,10![]()
I was playing Hold'em online and alot of money down because the flops werent working for me until then. I get a 2 and a 7 and thinking i am going to fold before i ahve to ante up so i was going to but instead i hit raise.STUPID STUPID STUPID i know, everyone calls so family pot, with my unreal luck, the flop is 2 7's and a 2 SO I AM AMAZED so i am willing to go all in that hand so i keep playing and everyone is in because i think they were going for flushes or something but i dont care, next card Queen heart, No prob i still have my full house on the table (little did i know a guy had poket queens and would have shat on me, i only found out after when he actually told me). So he goes all in, we both have a full house but his is killing me, HERE COMES THE RIVER.....Sweet 7 of Diamonds, i got the 4 of a kind, went all in and so did he for some psycho reason and there you go i logged out and went to bed a happy camper
Sorry mate - been offline for a while. Yes, of course you were right. But then you knew that already didn't you? I'm now going to give you all my chips. Nothing new there then.....Originally Posted by SlaineMcRoth

I think you ask most players and they're probably gonna prefer AKo to JTs, but against something like a small pocket pair the JTs is actually a slight favourite over the AKo.Originally Posted by Oinkment

Whoohoo, I'm rich, I'm rich! So uhmmm, what can I do with my virtual money here? I know there's a handy donate link right next to it, but is there anything else I can do with it?
I couldn't, like, change it into real money, now could I? Neah, that would be toooo good :P
