I remember reading one of Negreanu's journals and a hand went like that. What happened was this: DN flopped a nut straight. He raised, and an opponent went all in, a significant raise. DN called immediately, and his opponent mucked his hand. DN was shocked, he says "you don't even have a pair?" (because a pair could still get a runner runner full house or quads). The guy says that he has absolutely nothing and had put DN on a bluff. But DN is a strict adherer to the rules of the game, which state that if a player's all in you have to have a showdown and a full board. So DN asks the dealer to unmuck the guy's hand and deal the turn and river, which are the same cards DN has, splitting the pot.![]()
Trustme - still gaining 900 chips on a 'lets see a flop' is still better than getting done for all your stack.
Fair play to Daniel Negreanu, can't imagine many others doing that - although online would have had no choice but to see it out.
And I'll bet his reaction to the beat was more dignified than most too.
I found the article where he explains that hand. That was a pretty sick split with his opponent having only a 0.91% chance of survival. Trust_me only had a 64.65% chance of winning the pot. It hardly even counts as a bad split.![]()
