    Unhappy Worst Mistakes playing poker..

Everyone's made silly mistakes playing poker.. Most make a lot of silly mistakes when they first start playing, usually by betting on hands that are worth a lot less than you think.

However, even after you've played for a while you can still make mistakes if you lose concentration.

Here's my three most recent mistakes.. All of them very stupid!

    1) Was playing 2 games at once - a tournament and a 0.50c / 1 dollar cash game - both on William Hill.. I was dealt K K in my cash game, but accidentally called an all-in in the tournament game thinking that was the game I had the K K in. I actually had Q 6 in the tournament game it turns out and looked extremely foolish when the cards were revealed after we'd both gone all in

    2) Dealt 7s Ad on big blind... 4 callers, flop is dealt: A 7 3.. I fold thinking I've only 7 7, when I possibly had the strongest hand..

    3) 10d 9d.. Decide to call as blinds are small... Flop comes up 3 diamonds.. I increase the bet.. 3 others call. Then the Ad is dealt.. The other 3 diamonds are all below 10.. Someone goes all in, and I call, losing to Flush with Qd the kicker...

So, 3 stupid mistakes there I think... But, what are mistakes if you don't learn from them!

    Here's the 3 things I learnt:

    1) Never play 2 games at once - especially if you are late into an all-night session..

    2) Take it slowly.. Playing fast leaves you open to missing things.

    3) Even if you have the best hand on the flop, this can quickly change on the turn or the river.. Don't be afraid to fold even if you've bet a lot on the hand already!

Hope these are a lesson to any new players on what not to do!

I’m not sure if you imply this as a good thing or a bad thing. The best flop would have been AKQ suited. Since this would leave only one card in the deck that could beat you at that point (also someone may have hit a straight and give you some action).

The damage a 4th flush card on the board does to a made flush is huge. In you case your opponent went from:

1 in 79. Needing to hold one of 8 (AKQJ8765) diamonds from 44 available cards and one of 4 (AKQJ) diamonds from 43 available cards, to win.

    To:

1 in 15. Needing to hold one of 3 diamonds (KQJ) from 44 available cards (with 2 chances) to win.

    Still not bad odds thought.

As for mistakes I’ve made few...but travelled each, and every highway
Seriously, playing poker while drunk would be the most recent and most obvious one.

I also came close to missing an on-line tournament once when I forgot to log back in after registering earlier (then restarting my pc and the client app) and wondered why it hadn’t seated me seconds before the start.

    I'm not sure either

I think my thinking was that as all the other diamonds were below my highest diamond, and my opponent had gone on all-in, it tended to suggest he was holding a high rather than a low diamond... And it probably was a bag thing to call his all-in, even though the mathematical odds were still in my favour..

Thanks for the hand analysis - excellent as ever!

Playing multiple games is a trap that I learned from. Can;t focus on too much at once.

My worst mistake (i tilted for two days after this one) went something like this: online cash game, i hold Q-8, blah blah blah flop comes 9-J-K, "sweet i flopped a straight!" i think. a raise comes before me, then a re-raise. "sweet" i think, and go all-in. One caller, who beats me with an ace high. I needed much sleep and for some reason thought 8 9 J Q K was a legitimate straight. The thing that made me steam most was the foool calling me with an ace high!

All that blah blah blah-ing must have been a tell for him to call with ace high!

I've made mistakes when multi tabling... its managable until you get a hand on two or more tables at the same time, with all of them flashing at you with time ticking away! I don't do it so often now, although with partypoker windows being resizable now, its easier on there... (very clever on their part!)

My biggest and most consistant mistake when playing poker is PORN! Honestly, porn has been my biggest leek throughout my poker playing days. I just can't play and play and the same time

I have also been playing two games and called the wrong table Also i tend to miss what others may have sometimes if i get to exicted eg. possible straights that should be obvious to see

Try to only play one table at a time now it's so much easier.
Any time you aggressively play seven deuce off suit, the universe will bend the laws of short term probability in order to re-balance the long term probability abuses by those trashy players who only play premium hands

Not really a mistake, more looking foolish.

Once in a live game, once online, both times i have been dealt a top pair (AA and KK). both times i've had a caller with nothing. Both times i've hit trips on the flop, and given that he has nothing, i've said "well played, or unlucky, etc)

Next thing i know, the turn and river are both of the same suit, and he's caught a flush holding a 2 etc. lol.

Can laugh looking back on it
