I've noticed the difference, my choice of gambling is fruit machines and for me to win someone has to lose, no one can afford to put £20 through in under 3 minutes and barely get a go on the board that offers £2 maximum anyway, and who can blame them? times are hard, even places like the spoons which used to get played heavily, the machines just stand there flashin away with no interest from casual punters.

I think that the industry may dip for a while but when people start looking for a home based business, well maybe online betting will be it. I haven't seen any stats for how betting performed in other recessions, has anyone else?

I dont think it will have as much an affect on the whole industry, with people desperate for money they often tend to bet more in an all or nothin shot rather than giv up gamblin

I'm not quite sure, I shouldn't think that the credit crunch will affect gamblers.
To be fair I don't think it will affect it that much... Take for example, the Grand National... There was yet again more money put on the race than the previous year!

Old post, but this is something I've noticed recently too. I'm guessing the £250 duty per machine has more to do with this than the 'credit crunch' though?...
