Just got an email from the Triangle Casino in Bristol. Apparantly they've just opened a card room - pretty surprising really as it's a very small casino..
Anyway, they are holding the following tournaments:
Sunday Nights £25 Pot Limit Texas Hold’em
(Unlimited re-buys for first 90 minutes +one top up)
(Must register in person from 8pm in card room)
Tournament Starts – 9pm
Maximum Capacity – 24
Start times are to be strictly adhered to
There are also 2 competions next week, Mon 27th Sept AND Thurs 30th Sept. Both £20 Texas Hold Em.
-- Updated: 21st November 2004: The days that the Triangle Casino holds its poker tournaments have changed to every Monday and Thursday night. Registration starts at 8pm with the game starting at 9pm. The site is out of date where it says 'max capacity 24' - it's more like 60 at the moment, though can be very cramped due to the attempt to cram as many people as possible into 2 small rooms!
Would be interesting to hear what types of characters turn up. Last time I went into Bristol it was pretty manic. The whole city has been overtaken by stretch limos with kids screaming out the back windows
Probably the Triangle Casino might get a few of the older players out of the woodwork, but I'd expect to see a majority of younger inexperienced players. That's what happens these days whenever a new card room comes along, probably because of all the TV coverage and the popularity of poker the last couple of years. Of course, the real games are still played in the Cotham pubs after hours (as far as I know)
Let us know how you get along. Good luck!
Haven't been here for a while, seems pretty quiet. Nice to see you guys are still around.
Monkey, did you enter the game on Sunday in Bristol? If so, I'd be interested in hearing how you got along.
I've just signed up with this site:

We've held 2 games already, with more to follow. So, if there are any Bristol Poker players out there looking for a game - check it out...
Hi,
If anyone is looking for cash games in Bristol, I and a small group of friends usually get together 1 or 2 times a week, for a small cash game.
We run this in either of two ways depending on the size of the game.
For instance if we are playing for £20 each, we tend to play tournament. Each player recieves a certain amount of chips winner takes all.
Or in a good case we can get a real game going with unlimited buy-ins and set a time limit say 8 hrs, as when a limit is not set the games tend to go on a bit, like 15 hrs!!!
In this instance we would have a banker who you would purchase your table chips from.
We are not gangsters or thieves we are just poker lovers!!
If I get enough replys to my e-mil from people in the Bristol area, then we can work something out.
My email address is mcstoned_raider(remove this part)@hotmail.com.
P.S. Good luck with your poker and try not get frustrated and play silly pocket cards. Play tight and aggressive on good hands.
We just finished another home game..
Excellent fun it was too - 7 players @ £15 buy-in.
We set rebuys at £10 for a full rebuy, £5 for a half rebuy and allowed 2 hours for rebuying. This worked pretty well and enabled the prize pool to reach £170, with £110 for first place and £60 for second place.
So, any Bristol players out there who want to take part in the next event, head on over to poker.meetup.com - We are averaging at least 1 game a week at the moment with various formats - tournament with rebuys, freezeout, cash games, plus other events. e.g. This weekend we're off to the Gutshot Club in London for a Bristol vs. London challenge.. 40 of us attending (20 Bristolians vs. 20 Londoners).
Anyone know of any card rooms where i can play, any where between peterborough and lincoln.
Cheers

There are some places left for this Sunday's game (10th April).
I think Bristol is a fantastic place and probably has the best Poker scene in England. I have travelled on the limos on several occasions, often on the way to Triangle casino in fact!Originally Posted by TheKing
