Default Finals Day at the George

The George in Bristol was the host for the April Monthly Finals, and with just over 60 players attending it was going to be a very long day!.....

One player from Dursley only lasted one hand though when his K J couldn't stand up against the mighty Aces!, both players hit their flush on the river and one had the nutz followed by the second nutz!!

    Final Table Chip Count

    Seat_1 Sandeep Kanabar Cheltenham 120K
    Seat_2 Simon Inglis Cheltenham 36K
    Seat_3 Clive Smith Gloucester 36K
    Seat_4 Tony Mayne Bristol 37K
    Seat_5 Jon Boulter Bristol 2K
    Seat_6 Ross Ciddelapaz Bristol 79K
    Seat_7 Richard Sheldon Gloucester 28K
    Seat_8 Chris Chmiel Bristol 110K
    Seat_9 Clare Duffy Yate 58K

Blinds were at 6K-12K when Jon Boulter who had won a previous allin with his shortstack finally lost his race against chip leader Sandeep and hit the bubble in 9th place!

Players were now in the money and with the blinds going up it wasn't long before we lost another player.

Simon inglis last months winner was all-in with 24K.... Big blind Richard Sheldon had no choice but to call with 16K already in the pot.

    Simon A 2 Vs K J Richard

King was the first card out and Simon couldn't catch up!

    8th Place-Simon Inglis

Chris Chmiel from Bristol was on the button and with no previous action in the hand pushed all in with pkt 6's.... only for Duffy to wake up with a hand in the SB!

    6 6 Vs A Q

Duffy hits two pair and Chris is out in 7th Place

Tony Mayne a regular at the George in Bristol had a amazing run of cards when down to three tables which helped him accumulated a mass of chips!.......but his luck was just about to run out in a 3-way pot!

    Blinds 10K-20K

Tony all-in with 24K called by Sandeep in the SB and Clive in the BB

    Sandeep-K 4
    Clive-A 2
    Tony-7 5

Clive caught his Ace and tony was out in 6th place!

Clive on the BB was next out when calling an all-in from Sandeep

    77 vs JQ

No help for Clive saw him hit the rail in 5th place!

    Chip Counts

    Sandeep-180k
    Ross-170K
    Richard-90K
    Duffy 70K

Blinds were now on 15K-30K and Duffy trying to pick up the blinds shoved all-in and was called by Sandeep in the BB

    Duffy Q 8 Vs 8 8 Sandeep

    Duffy out in 4th

Richard who has survived a couple of all-ins on the final table thanks to river ....could not get his A 5 to hold Vs Ross Q 8

Richard Sheldon out in 3rd Place

just to say a big thanks for a great day at bristol.
The day started for me as handing back the trophy and looking forward to losing!
the first 2 hours of playing are always a blur to me,as id rather not bother playing them and rather have a 6k stack till the break. the blinds are too small and too long so plenty of time to smoke lots and ive learnt my lesson that you can never win in the first 2 hours.
As i hadnt eaten all day ,the break came and i walked down to subway (it then rained very heavily so i waited and walked up 25 mins later to see me lose my big blind)
i think i have a concentration span of a flee ,so moving table and new faces is always good but this table there was a lot of big raises.
no steady play, and it meant i had to just take my time and pick my moments.
Not having hit any straights, flushes, trips, full houses in the first 4 hours, i was glad to limp in on my small blind, 300-600. had queen 4 , only to see 3 clubs on the flop ace ten 4.
i had the queen o clubs so bet 600 and was immediatley raised to 2400.. considering the ace was out there ,i put him on aces so i called hoping to hit a 4 or another club..
next card a 3 of spades,no help so bet 600 hoping a no raise, and too my luck just a call.
to my luck a club hit on the river so only the king would of beaten me so i just put another 600 only to be reraised all in.. instant call for me and a very lucky double up.
lunch came and gone and then saw tony maynes run of lucky cards...queens ,jacks, jacks again, then tens and then 2 or 3 straights of the flops by him and it kept going on and on,my stack dwindled..when watching 3 5 7 on the flop and tony hitting yet another straight of the flop,i thought my time was limited.
blinds were getting big and managed to gain some chips back by hitting two pair ...and then 15 minutes later had the choice of calling an all in by the small blind after the flop..
i was big blind , and had hit the king on the flop, and risked calling only to see him chasing a straight, it didnt hit and was happily upto 60 k.
the tables shrank to 2 and there were too many allins and tonys luck put me to stick to my guns and came in on the last table with 36 k, i knew it wasnt enough tho i couldnt hit any decent cards.this is when i wished the blinds stopped going up!! i finally hit an ace and pushed my luck and got caught with my pants down by the big blind.
so the poker gods were not with me today!!
having offered my friend san a lift home, i then knew i had to wait till the end..
and he was LUCKY!! too drunk to raise any hands but to go ALL IN every other hand.and fair play it worked, he must of gone ALL IN at least 200 times that day(probably more than everyone elses all ins put together)and him and his mascot DONKEY and the trophy came back to cheltenham yet again. unlucky for ross who played very well that day tho very glad that they split the money,
NOW ,as a cheltenham player we all have to cope with sans bragging and donkey( i might have to go to bristol to play now just to avoid him) tho i might have to play him to get all the roars of laughter after i kick his donkeys ass and him out of the tourney next time i play him

    Hey man..

I know it was very unfortunate horrible beat.. I sympathise everytime I remember it.. AK against A9, hitting straight with the 9 on the river, after you hitting your K..

Everyone gets lucky at some point or another, this was my time..
