To effect this would mean major changes to the league structure and a massive overhaul to the backend of our web design & database..and with so many other things happening at the moment its not something we are looking to change...Originally Posted by PokerStar
However we will be doing a Champion of champions tournament between the Bristol and Manchester league more details of this will be coming shortly.![]()
I would disagree with the "easier" points statement about Weston. Yes, there's more venues but given Weston also has some of the larger starting fields and argubly some of the better players (see the final table last month), at the moment I would say going to some of the venues near and around Bristol would be where the "easier" points are.Originally Posted by PokerStar
See what you're saying, but I would argue that the reason the top players are all from Weston is that there are more events there and therefore more points to get.Originally Posted by drwinston
I see that there are now a few more Bristol and Bath events, so it looks like the balance has been addressed.
Not a complaint, more of an observation and suggestion![]()
Keep up the good work Mike.
I agree with you drwinston just because there are more nights to play in Weston does not mean the points are easier to obtain.Originally Posted by drwinston
Bath will be getting an additional 2 new venues, Bristol will be getting 3 New Venues..Gloucester and Dursley have opted for a couple of new nights i think you will find the areas starting to balance when these venues come on board for June.![]()
Thanks Pokerstar now if we can only find players to play in all these new venues lol!Originally Posted by PokerStar
PS I have made an arrangement with the 3 New Bristol Venues to give a special prize away to the winner of the opening night..make sure you attend as you wont want to miss out!![]()
Well, technically the function of probability DOES mean that, since no matter how good you are poker is in substantial part a game of luck. And even flawless skill couldn't help you - last night at 6pm, the leaderboard was headed by someone with 3600 points. If you'd won every single game played in Bath up until then, you'd still be trailing.Originally Posted by LPL_Mike
Obviously this will be addressed to a degree for Bath players by next month, but that still leaves other areas heavily disadvantaged. Couldn't there be a upper limit of, say, 8 or 10 games for which you can score points in any given month? (You could play more than that, but only the points for the best 8/10 would count towards the leaderboard.) I wouldn't think that would require too much messing around with the back end.
Nobody's going to complain too much since this is all free, but it'd be nice if there was some way for it to be a little fairer to everyone who doesn't live in Weston. And at least there'd be a bit more of a social mix at the finals...
i think the biggest flaw is in the weighting of the points, more credit should be given to the winner of the big fields.
Only 0.5 of a point player is not enough it should be more like 5 points and the amount of placing point come down.

You mean something like this:Originally Posted by sligobhoy

8th 60
9th 50
10th 40
11th-16th 30pts
5pts per player bonus
So if you came second in a field of 35.... 2nd = 300 bonus 5x35 =175 total 475pts
If you came second in a field of 16... 2nd=300pts bonus 5x16 =80pts total 380pts
First look its seems like it might work? anyone got any comments or suggestions?
