    Default lateness of people

what is the rule on that, because i turn up 3-5 late (sorry) at the kro bar

i came in to be told by the guy who was running it for the night, i taking 200 chips of you for being late and 500 if you late again

    few things wrong with this

    1) where the rule that say that

    2) still was taking name and number were already wrote onto the sheet so i can go to that table

    3) game is not started and neither did the drawing of dealer, as well i also got my chips the same time as the rest of the players

    4) the guy is a nice guy but you got to be a bit understand for people who work and at the same time there were 20 people as i got there,

as you can see now it put me off my own game and i went out in the first 30 minuters because i could'nt think and also angry with that

any help because i do think it out of order at the same time i am an regular player who play at that venue and enjoy playing with good player and a gud bunch of people

    thanks

I would suggest that you note the number of the pub or ask a friend who is playing to put your name on the sheet, the blinds will be then posted for 30 minutes if you have not arrived by then your chips will be removed from the table.

If you don't do this and turn up late then the person who runs the evening can deduct chips....but i can see why you would be annoyed if they just sat down..... in the Bristol area we will allow 10 minutes for someone to turn up after that they will lose between 100-300 chips

    Default Lateness

I was running the night last night....
i am sorry i put you off your game.

I spoke to nick yesterday about this and he re-itterated the guidelines he set out to me the first time i ran a night. Theses guidelines are that a player should lose 50 chips for every five minutes late up until 25 minutes after the tournament has started.
i made a mistake- it has been a long time since people have turned up late and i thought he had said 100 chips per 5 minutes. I remembered the amount of chips wrong, for which i apologise.

By my watch it was after 7.35 by the time the first of the late players arrived. At 7.25 everyone else there was ready to start. i said i would wait 5 minutes because i had a feeling some players would be late- there were 14 players on the list at that time meaning that if more turned up we would have to go to 3 tables as opposed to two. [in future i will just put the extra table in anyway and get started promptly- cheers nick]
7.35 passed and i alocated tables, and was sitting ppl down when the first latecomer turned up- i then re allocated tables and distributed chips accordingly.
the way the rules were explained to me is that if you turn up late you get fined chips for every five minutes late and i considered everyone who was more than 5 late to be 10 late, and in the interests of getting the game running quickly i sat everyone down and got the game started before i deducted chips.

i understand how you feel about work, i myself work full time too- aswell as running the poker nights. If, like mike says, if you can let someone know that you will be late (either myself or nick) then i can get your name down and give you a stack- and there wont be any problem for me because i will have a better grasp of the numbers playing.

My main concern is that i dont want a situation where a whole table of people turn up after 7.30 (seven people on Monday at the old cock, and six at Kro Bar). This, in my opinion is not fair to other players who will in many cases change their game significantly when playing against 13 players as opposed to 20. The '500 chips' was more of a threat to make ppl consider that although this is not a serious game, that in my opinion it is a matter of etiquette that if possible players should arrive a few minutes early- i know that you are asked to arrive 30 minutes early for the final, and that we would certainly not be admitted to a 'for money' game after that game has started, except perhaps in a 're-buy' tournament.

I will continue to fine ppl for late arrivals, in the interest of a better atmosphere, and a more serious approach to the game. Although hopefully next time everything will run a lot smoother.

I run the poker night in The Assmebly in Bath and we also fine people for beiong late (if they've not got someone to write them on the sheet). But even getting amate to sign them in doesn't work all the time, as people tquite often don't turn up, so after being blinded out a couple of times, if they don't arrive by the end of the first blind level (25 minutes) we remove their chips from the table.... We DON'T share them amongst the other players at the table like they do in a few of the league games.

If a person turns up 10 minutes late, we usually dock them about 200 chips, I know this is more than the blinds, but they may have got invovled in a hand and lost 200 anyway. So its also sort of a gesture to the other people who did manage to turn up on time.

We usually have between 35 and 40 players at each of our games, and although I understand that sometimes work can be a problem, if you text or phone someone and ask them to sign you in if you're going to be late, not only does it make it easier for the person running it (by not having to re-organise tables, re-count numbers and possibly open another table and move people about (making the start time even later than it aleady is) you'll only lose the blinds and no more.

I was at Kro bar last night, and I got fined. I thought it was fair. Always seems a little unfair to be the first to be made an example of, but thats life.

Ironicaly I am not usually late, but I do find it annoying that we have some serial offenders, and so chip fines seem fair to me, (Chilli isnt one of them btw). I know getting annoyed at something will put you off your game, but aside from the initial annoyance 200 chips really isnt going to be a huge dissadvantage, and I dont think it will go far enough to put off the serial offenders, and therefore a stiffer penalty ought to be considered. I would also say that the serial offenders tend to be 5 minutes late, and one offs through genuine reason can be 15-20. It seems somewhat unfair that the occasional alte appearance is penalised more than the serial offender.

By the time Chris made his way over to deduct my 200 chips, (very authorative too ), I had already made 275 back, just a shame I had KK to a board of KQQK8 for such a small payout. :-(

I would say one thing though, there were a lot of people arriving late last night, and there was also traffic problems along Oxford/Wilmslow Road, so it was most likely an unfortunate night for it to happen.

At the Church Inn, people arrive at 6pm and sign up, only to leave, and return at 7:30. They have an issue of not getting a seat at all and strangely no one arrives late!

500 Chip fine for serial offenders please !

As was said last night, Mike, Nic, , Dave, Mr. Of Nazareth, etc... are good enough to run these free events for us, so we really should do our best to get there with a few minutes to spare. I don't think anybody would argue against fining latecomers a few chips, but I suspect it was Chris's threat of "500 chips next time you're late" that really peeved Chilli.

The fines shouldn't be accumulative - and fair enough, Chris has already taken back what he said - but neither should he have been so snappy as to put Chilli on tilt

So Jesus is snappy? Do you think he is having trouble with Mary ? Perhaps thats why Jesus doesn't attend the Ladybrook?
