    Default *Regions Cup

A few people have mentioned about trying to run something for a monthly final while the WSOP promotion is going on and i think i might of come up with an idea!

    Regions Cup

The concept is a team based tournament, we will need 8 teams; 2 teams from each region:

This will be based on the September Region leaderboards:

Top 16 players from W-S-M will qualify as W-S-M 'A' and Team 'B' Teams will consist of 8 players plus 2 reserves (reserves will be 17-20)
This format will be the same for the rest of the Regions.

If you get into the top 16 of your Region in the September leader board you will represent your region..and have a chance to play heads Up aganist the Best from Manchester.

PS please note one 'B' team will not make it, more details on that will be coming shortly.

Position 1 and 9 will be automatic Team Captains and will be in charge in making sure there team has 8 players.
This format will be the same for the other 3 regions, that is how the teams will be made.

At the end of the month we will then have 8 Teams of 8 Players plus 2 Reserves, these players will then move forward to represent there region at Finals day!

This is a rough layout of the format for the tournament, as we get closer more details will be given.

There will be 8 Tables to start the tourney, each table will have 1 player from each team sitting at the table.
The table is then played as a single table tourney, and will play down from 8 players to 1 player.
Points are awarded for the postion that you finished at the table.

When all tables are finished the points for every player in the team is collected and transformed into chip for the final table.

So each team will have an amount of chips depending on the positions of where they finished in the single tournament

We then go to a single table, where team captains will pick a player to sit at that table, the player will play for 20 minutes and then will have to change with the next player...and so on
This will carry on until one team(player) has all the chips and that team will be presented with the Regions Cup!

As i say that a rough working of the format, i am thinking of adding a twist involving a Poker.co.uk All Star Team who will play at the expense of a weaker B team...all will be revealed very soon!

Winners will recieve the Regions Cup Trophy.Plus bragging rights for being the best region!

The best team will then get to face the best 8 Manchester players in a Heads up battle, to findout who is the best of best!
I will hopefully try and arrange this for November!

    Default How about...

How about.... 9 teams of 9 players? That way we can have a poker.co.uk all-stars team without having to ditch the weakest 'b' team.
Mango: Anyone watching Graeme Norton? They've got that actress who was in that accident recently! Reece...
    s4ooter: Witherspoon?
    Mango: No, with a car.

    Default Dreadful Memory

Can't believe you forgot it was my idea to have a Poker.co.uk team as I also suggested we should have an organisers team too. But you just laughed at that one.

Is that Mike with the dreadful memory, or me? Or both? I can't remember lol

I like the idea of an organisers team too. So, maybe 10 teams of 10!! Mmmmm.. That'll mean 100 players though, and will be pretty cramped on tables that are designed to seat only 8 people.

But as the organisers all sit there and play every night, could they not try and qualify by rights...?

How about teams of 7 qualifers (plus one 8-person "all-star" crowd to be decided by Mr Dale I assume), with the 7 qualifiers for each team then allowed to discuss and decide upon one wild card entry from their region, a la Ryder Cup.

Mike, what happens if players one thru eight on the leaderboard can all make it as can players 11 thru 18. Do the players who finished 9th and 10th miss out? That to me would seem a little unfair on those players.

Like i say it was a rough format ....

I think a better idea will be the top 16 make the two teams; 17-20 will be the reserves, first two for the A-Team next two for the B-Team makes more sense!

I like the idea of 3 'B' teams going through and the worst 4th team being replaced by a Poker.co.uk team...might make the 'B' teams a little more competitive!
But i think we should stop at 8 teams..
