que your opportunity to join me in celebrating me growing old by spending some money with/on me

i will be playing the £300 60k guaranteed 3pm game.

I am either gonna come 1st or finish in a non-paying positon which somewhat nullifies the following but to
    cover all possibilities.
    Finishing pos 20-11 pays 10%
    10-3 7.5%
    3-1 5%

Only selling 25% and am doing so on a First Come First Pay Basis
    Price £25 per 5%.

Mate this seems like a terrible deal unless I've misunderstood it. Are you saying that you're selling 25% but only paying out between 5%-10% of any winnings depending on where you place? Or between 5%-10% for each 5% stake (so between 25%-50% total if you sell 25%)? Also selling 5% for £25 means you're selling at 160% of the value as well which is pretty steep

hi phil, i dnt think you have mis understood it at all. your discription of the type of deal it appears to you as is subjective to your views and feelings, heres mine..........

based on previous pay outs in this tournament 5% of prizes for positions 3-1 will pay out between £800 to £1500. so to me(imo) that sort of return on £25 quid is not bad.
following this line of thought similar examples can be worked out for the 7.5% offered for finishing in positions 10 -3
or the 10% offered for any other cashing position.

lets be real. if a backed player doesnt cash, whether they offerd 50% of any winnings for 10% of the (buy in/costs(travel,entry,juice etc) ) or 5% of the winnings for 10% of the (buy-in/costs) it
means sweet f all, its all hyper thetical.

also consider this, its a 2 day event. (time off work, travel, accom and entry)considered, the true value of entering this tourn to me could be closer to £500 and so i think my
staggered payouts and percentages are fair to both parties( backers & backee's).

were the shoes on the other foot would i stake someone else on these terms?
i might or might not it would all depend on my personal finances and mood at the time etc.

but all these things are for any interested people to decide. there is hardly ever a free lunch.

I think with that attitude your not going to get any backers.

The thing is you cant expect people to stake you so that it also covers your hotel costs. In the OP you stated your going for your birthday. Therefore that makes potential backers think your going because you want to. If your going because you want to then you have to front the bill for accomdation right?

Also it appears that the payout is totally unfair. Your asking people to buy shares in you but get a strange return. You dont see HSBC say to its shareholders well 4% of profits are going to share holders but for which makes £4 per share but actually were going to pay you £2 a share as we finished 3rd in the top banks do you?

You may need to rethink all this as many people will be put off backing you this way, which is a shame as your on a insane hot streak at the moment.

So with your pitch i am afraid to say i am out. You will have to ask the other dragons

n1 smeigle! What position did you finish, and how much did you win?

how much did Dann stake and what was his return? (I didn't understand your post as to how much you were giving away and at what rate...).
